Bio - Maurice Bailey

Growing up in the Horse Community of Suffolk, Virginia, Maurice has been involved with horses since the age of 12 years old. Once he had taken that first ride on a pony named "Star" led by his grandfather, Maurice proceeded to take lessons with Anne Gavin of Kirby-Lonsdale Farm who educated, mentored, and fostered the passion and love he enjoys so much.

After owning his first horse, in which he paid and bought himself, he then continued to strive to achieve a higher level of training and showing. With Anne Gavin's assistance and advice he transferred one of his previous horses to Cavalier Farm, owned and operated by Pam Herman.

While at a local show in Virginia Beach, Maurice was advised by the judge, Ms. Cindy Walker that he should look at Hunters Way in Smithfield, Virginia, owned and operated by Peg Seals and Nardeen Henderson. Once there, Maurice never looked back. He had found Horse Heaven - studying and learning more than ever.

Maurice has showed and trained on the local level while competing in some of the "B" Shows in the Richmond competition community. Today you will find Maurice working with Peg Seals at all the major "A" & "AA" shows, not only as a top groomsmen but a competent, hardworking rider as well.

You may have even seen him judging throughout Virginia where he strives to raise the standards of education in the Commonwealth.
